Projects for this month CHECK! Now to figure out what to do next... I've really enjoyed making mugs because there is so much to consider with the functionality and comfort of the mug being essential. I love the feel of my handles they are just comfortable for me to hold. For my next project I am going to try a little more organic approach to the mug body itself. some likable mugs:

here are some mugs i made this week. I like the shape of the one on the right better but the handle turned out thicker then I wanted on the top. I threw some more mug bodies today but I don't think I'm going to keep them but next week i'll probably make a couple more of these. BYE AMY!!!

Mugs!

Well this week I threw some more of the mugs that I started making over winter break. Today I pulled their handles. I'm really quite happy with this project because I'm really likin my handles nowadays. I also really like mugs now. Before, truthfully I hated mugs because I hated making handles because they always turned out gross looking but with pulling the handles off the body of the mug they are much easier to make them fit the pot well and they just look a lot nicer. Overall I'm really happy with this project and I'm gonna make some more mugs for the next one!

winter break business

First off my concentration project I made over the break was some mugs. I really hate making handles because mine always turn out like crap so luckily my brother is home and I asked him for some help on handles and he taught me how to pull them off the pot which is so much easier! Gah why didn't I figure this out before. Anyway I also learned throwing pots in a shed outdoors with a measly little space heater that ran out of propane in below freezing temperatures is miserable. It took awhile before I finally got feeling back in my fingers. Anyway here is one of them:

Also my brother and I did a reduction gas firing this week.We had trouble getting it to temperature according to the probe but when we opened it up the cone 10 was down so we reached our goal temperature. Problem was the kiln heated really unevenly(neither of us are sure exactly why). the top shelf where the cones were reached temperature and most of the stuff came out allright, most with noticeable signs of reduction. Bottom shelf=glazes hardly melted at all. The pieces that didn't turn out can always be refired.
