winter break business

First off my concentration project I made over the break was some mugs. I really hate making handles because mine always turn out like crap so luckily my brother is home and I asked him for some help on handles and he taught me how to pull them off the pot which is so much easier! Gah why didn't I figure this out before. Anyway I also learned throwing pots in a shed outdoors with a measly little space heater that ran out of propane in below freezing temperatures is miserable. It took awhile before I finally got feeling back in my fingers. Anyway here is one of them:

Also my brother and I did a reduction gas firing this week.We had trouble getting it to temperature according to the probe but when we opened it up the cone 10 was down so we reached our goal temperature. Problem was the kiln heated really unevenly(neither of us are sure exactly why). the top shelf where the cones were reached temperature and most of the stuff came out allright, most with noticeable signs of reduction. Bottom shelf=glazes hardly melted at all. The pieces that didn't turn out can always be refired.
